On Wednesday, July 17, 28 people attended the day long symposium on permeable interlocking concrete pavement in Burnaby, BC. Attendees included staff from the City of Vancouver, surrounding communities, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, hardscape distributors and design professional who work in this market.
Attendees viewed presentations from Dave Hein – Applied Research Associates and Robert Bowers – Interlocking Concrete Pavement. Topics included an introduction to Permeable Pavements, the latest research into Stormwater Pollutant and Volume Reduction, Site Selection, Design, Using Permeable Design Pro, Developing Structural Design Tables, the new ASCE 68-18 design standard, Construction, Permeability and Winter Maintenance, Winter Maintenance and Off-Road Benefits of PICP.
During breaks, attendees had the opportunity to interact with local producers exhibiting their PICP products. Attendees were provided a copy of the ICPI Permeable Interlocking Concrete Pavement 5th Edition manual. The follow up email offered a free copy of the Permeable Design Pro program and a complimentary subscription to the Interlock Design Magazine.

Overall, the event was a great success and was one of the highest rated events of this type by both attendees and exhibitors.
