Career fairs are a great way to raise awareness of the hardscape industry in your community – and to find new employees! ICPI has developed several resources you can use including a career path flyer, parent guide, and videos. Find these free resources at www.icpi.org/workforcedevelopment. Also, check out and follow the @HardscapingIs social media campaign on Facebook and Instagram to find even more materials and ideas.
Find a local event by visiting https://jobfairsin.com/ or community event websites in your area. You can also contact the career centers in local high schools/colleges and military transition offices near you to see when they are having events. Many events are free or low-cost, making your ability to get out in the community even easier!
Pro tip: If you’re doing a career fair at a high school or college, internships are a big buzz. Internships are a long-term interview process. They give you an employee for 4 months who can have a planned schedule that gives them exposure to the whole business – from installer to owner and everything in between. And when you find an intern who is a great match, you can offer them full-time work at the end of the internship.
