The seventh annual Hardscape North America Installer Championship competition took place on October 17-18 in Louisville, KY. The HNA Installer Championship tests and recognizes the skill, dedication and passion of hardscape contractors from across North America. The national competition was held in the brand-new Hardscape House at HNA and was comprised of 13 teams who had their knowledge of industry best practices tested in a race against the clock and other top installers in the industry.
In the preliminary round, each team was given 60 minutes to construct a new design of an 8 ft x 10 ft interlocking concrete patio with a small seat wall and detailed cuts based on drawings provided to each team. Each installation was judged based on criteria related to safety, craftsmanship and compliance to industry best practices. The teams with the top four scores from the preliminary rounds earned a spot in the final championship round where they had 90 minutes to construct their own design.
The 2019 HNA Installer Champion was Segmental Systems, led by Dan Hughes, with Jason Mucciaccio and Josh Brownlee, from Otis Orchards, WA. The team received a prize package valued at approximately $11,600.
